Algebra Review #4

One way to solve simultaneous equations is based on the property of substitution.

C = A
A + B = D
then
C + B = D too
So if you have a couple of equations like this:

2x + 3y = 12
x + y = 5

you can rearrange the second equation

x = (5 - y)

then substitute that in the first equation for the X

2(5 - y) + 3y = 12

Then you only have a standard algebra problem to solve
